Day 1

Step aboard our luxury motorcoach and begin your springtime journey to Kentucky! Along the way, we’ll make rest stops and enjoy lunch on your own at a variety of choices in East Peoria, IL—whether you’re in the mood for a quick burger, a sandwich, or something a bit heartier. Crossing into Indiana, we’ll make another comfort break before arriving in Indianapolis.

Here, we’ll check into the Drury Inn & Suites Indianapolis, where you’ll enjoy their famous evening kickback reception with complimentary drinks and light bites. It’s the perfect way to relax, unwind, and get to know your fellow travelers before the adventure begins.

Day 2

After breakfast, we continue south into Kentucky and begin our Louisville experience with a visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs. This world-class museum celebrates one of America’s most iconic sporting traditions—the Kentucky Derby. Through interactive exhibits, films, and rare artifacts, you’ll uncover the history, hospitality, and prestige of “the fastest two minutes in sports.” wonto the same hallowed ground where champions have raced for over a century.

To add even more fun, we’ll participate in a lively mock racing event where you’ll use “Horsey Bucks” to place wagers, cheer your horse to the finish line, and learn the thrill of handicapping—all in good fun, with prizes included.

After checking into our Louisville hotel, tonight we’ll gather for dinner at Bristol Bar & Grille Highlands, a beloved local restaurant since 1977. Known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and iconic “green chili wontons,” Bristol also serves hearty entrées and a wide selection of wines. It’s a local favorite that sets the stage for our time in Louisville.

Day 3

Today we venture into Lexington, Kentucky—the heart of horse country—for a visit to the Kentucky Horse Park. This 1,200-acre working horse farm is both an equestrian attraction and an international center for horse lovers. Meet different breeds, watch exciting equine presentations, and enjoy a horse-drawn trolley ride around the grounds. The highlight is the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian-affiliated exhibition that tells the story of mankind’s relationship with the horse throughout history. From ancient domestication to thoroughbred racing, this museum is a must-see.

No Kentucky trip would be complete without sampling its most famous export: bourbon. We’ll stop for a bourbon tasting at a distillery, where you’ll learn the art of barrel aging and savor the bold, smooth flavors that have made Kentucky bourbon world-renowned.

Dinner tonight is in downtown Louisville at the Old Spaghetti Factory, a beloved restaurant housed in the historic Levy Brothers Building. With its antique décor, stained glass, and hearty Italian fare, it’s a nostalgic dining experience that feels like stepping back in time.

Day 4

This morning we’ll explore Louisville Stoneware & Co., one of the oldest continually operating stoneware potteries in America, founded in 1815. Watch artisans at work as they shape, glaze, and hand-paint pottery that is both functional and collectible. Many pieces are oven-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe, and some have even found their way into the Smithsonian and White House collections. Guests often have the chance to try painting their own piece as a keepsake.

For lunch, enjoy free time at Village Food Hall, Louisville’s first community-oriented food hall located in the historic Paristown neighborhood. Options abound—from gourmet smash burgers and fried chicken to tacos, pizza, and even oversized fresh donuts.

This evening, cross the river into Indiana for a night of fun at the Derby Dinner Playhouse, one of the region’s premier dinner theatres. Enjoy a plentiful buffet dinner before the curtain rises on a Broadway-style musical or lighthearted comedy. With a live orchestra, professional costumes, and top-notch performances, this evening will be filled with music, laughter, and memorable entertainment.

Day 5

Our day begins at the Muhammad Ali Center, a cultural and educational center dedicated to Louisville’s most famous son. More than a sports museum, the center highlights Ali’s life as a world champion boxer, humanitarian, and activist. Interactive exhibits, films, and personal artifacts celebrate his six core principles: confidence, conviction, dedication, respect, giving, and spirituality. It’s an inspiring stop that leaves a lasting impression.

After lunch, on your own, we’ll visit the Frazier History Museum on Louisville’s Museum Row. This Smithsonian-affiliated institution offers a deep dive into American history through interactive exhibits, storytelling, and an extensive collection of artifacts. From frontier life and Civil War relics to Kentucky’s bourbon heritage, there’s something here for every history lover.

This evening, get ready for the spectacular highlight of your trip—Thunder Over Louisville! Known as the largest annual fireworks show in North America, this event officially kicks off the Kentucky Derby Festival. By day, thrill to the excitement of one of the country’s premier air shows. By night, be dazzled as fireworks light up the sky above the Ohio River in a breathtaking display. We’ll enjoy premium seating and dinner inside the KFC Yum! Center, offering comfort, great amenities, and the very best views of the show.

Day 6

Enjoy one last breakfast at the hotel before we begin our journey home. Along the way, we’ll make rest and lunch stops to keep everyone refreshed. As we arrive back, you’ll carry with you the excitement of Churchill Downs, the warmth of Kentucky hospitality, and the unforgettable magic of Thunder Over Louisville.
