Day 1
Step into a timeless classic brought to life onstage as Windstar Travel invites you to experience The Wizard of Oz at the beloved Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse. Nestled inside the beautifully restored Fort Armstrong Theatre in downtown Rock Island, Circa ’21 offers a warm, nostalgic setting where live theatre and delicious dining come together in one unforgettable experience. Charming architecture, intimate seating, and heartfelt hospitality make this historic venue a favorite destination for theatre lovers across the Midwest.
Your day begins with a freshly prepared plated lunch, served right to your table by the theatre’s famous Bootleggers®—a talented troupe of singing servers known for their lively pre-show performances and warm, personal service. Their musical numbers and playful interactions create a festive atmosphere that sets the stage for an enchanting afternoon at the theatre.
After lunch, the curtain rises on The Wizard of Oz, a magical, movie-come-to-life musical adventure that has captivated generations. The story follows young Dorothy Gale, who is whisked away by a swirling Kansas tornado and carried far from her prairie home to the dazzling, imaginative land of Oz. Here, nothing is quite as it seems—good witches and wicked witches roam the skies, animals speak, scarecrows come to life, and magical sights unfold at every turn.
Determined to find her way home, Dorothy sets off along the famous Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City in hopes of meeting the mysterious Wizard of Oz. Along the journey, she befriends the lovable Scarecrow, the tenderhearted Tin Man, and the brave but bashful Cowardly Lion. Together, they face enchanting wonders and formidable dangers, including the Wicked Witch of the West, whose relentless pursuit of Dorothy’s ruby slippers threatens their quest at every step.
Filled with unforgettable characters, heartwarming lessons, and iconic songs such as “Over the Rainbow,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” and “Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” this production brings all the charm and imagination of the classic film to the stage. Audiences of all ages will find themselves drawn into a world where courage, friendship, and home are the greatest treasures of all.
A visit to Circa ’21 offers so much more than a show—it’s an immersive theatre experience woven with great food, warm service, and professional performances in a truly historic setting. Join us for a day of laughter, nostalgia, and wonder as we journey over the rainbow and back again. This is a magical trip sure to leave your heart full and your spirits soaring.
