Day 1
Day 1 - Tuesday, June 16, 2026
Our journey begins as we travel south toward Missouri, enjoying scenic views along the way before arriving in charming Hermann just in time to dive into its rich culinary traditions.
We’ll kick off our Hermann experience with lunch and a sampling at the beloved Hermann Wurst Haus, where traditional German sausages, locally made meats, and specialty mustards showcase generations of craftsmanship and flavor.
After lunch, sit back and relax as a knowledgeable local guide joins us for a step-on narrated tour of Hermann, sharing stories of the town’s German settlers, riverboat history, wineries, and beautifully preserved 19th-century buildings. It’s the perfect introduction to the town’s character and charm.
Later this afternoon, we’ll check in at the Brady Hotel, our comfortable home base for the next two nights. After settling in, we’ll return to downtown Hermann for free time to browse charming boutiques, specialty shops, and local wine stores at your own pace.
This evening, enjoy a delightful group dinner at the Tin Mill Restaurant, complete with lively accordion music by Marilyn Loehnig. The warm atmosphere, hearty cuisine, and toe-tapping tunes make for a truly memorable first night before returning to the hotel to unwind.
Day 2
Day 2 - Wednesday, June 17, 2026
After a buffet-style breakfast at the hotel, we head back to Hermann to explore one of Missouri’s most iconic wineries, Stone Hill Winery. During a guided tour and tasting, you’ll learn about the winery’s fascinating history, underground cellars, and award-winning wines, all while taking in sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards.
Lunch is served at the historic Concert Hall & Barrel Tavern, a landmark known for its traditional fare and Old World ambiance. Once a lively music hall in the 1800s, it continues to be a gathering place filled with history and character.
Next, we visit Hermann Farm, where a guided farm tour brings Missouri’s agricultural heritage to life. From historic barns to heirloom livestock, this living history site offers a fascinating look at rural life and farming traditions of the region.
The afternoon brings more free time in downtown Hermann to shop, stroll, and soak in the relaxed river town vibe. This evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at Hermann 1837 Grill, located at Hermann Crown Suites. After dinner, the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy Hermann at your leisure, perhaps with a glass of local wine or a peaceful riverside walk.
Day 3
Day 3 - Thursday, June 18, 2026
Following breakfast and luggage pick-up, we wrap up our Hermann experience with a visit to the Historic Hermann Museum. Housed in beautifully preserved buildings, the museum offers engaging exhibits that tell the story of Hermann’s founding, German roots, and evolution through the years.
We’ll then enjoy time in downtown Hermann for lunch on your own, giving you one last chance to revisit a favorite cafe, bakery, or shop before beginning our journey home, arriving back in Iowa later this evening with wonderful memories and perhaps a few bottles of wine tucked away.
